Product Description
This model replicates the square-butt frame type of the M36 from before S&W switched to the model number system in 1957, when the M36 was still called the ".38 Chiefs Special" (commonly known as the "Pre-M36"). Specifically, it recreates the Pre-M36 that Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur uses to become the "Joker" in the award-winning film "JOKER" (2019). In the real gun, the square-butt specification was added in the early 1950s to improve the grip, which was unpopular with Americans with large hands. Despite being a concealed revolver, it features a large square butt, a seemingly contradictory design, but once you grip it, you'll feel a firm and secure hold. This model gun also faithfully reproduces the distinctive square butt grip, as well as the four-screw side plate fixing mechanism characteristic of that era. Furthermore, we've newly created the distinctive stepped flat thumbpiece seen on pre-M36s, which are taller than our previously produced M36 Early Model. While a niche model in the history of the S&W J-frame, it is a rare model that definitely existed. Now, it's finally available as a firing model gun.
