Product Description
In the 2000s, S&W began developing a new revolver chambered for the "world's most powerful pistol bullet," following the .44 Magnum. At the time of its release, the .44 Magnum and its M29 counterpart, considered the "world's most powerful," had already been usurped by the .454 Casull and emerging foreign manufacturers. Furthermore, S&W itself was repeatedly resold to foreign investors and struggled without a hit product. Subsequently, S&W returned to American ownership and, in an effort to restore its brand, produced the "M500." A dedicated round, the ".500 S&W Magnum," was developed specifically for this model. This gun uses .50 magnum rounds, said to be approximately three times more powerful than the aforementioned .44 magnum rounds. For this reason, the company adopted the X-frame, an extra-large size among its revolver frame specifications. The M500, embodying the "USA No. 1" philosophy, used the largest commercially available magnum rounds, making it less practical. However, it was a huge hit, and S&W once again established itself as one of America's leading manufacturers.
The Pegasus M500 Series Gas, Version 2, features improved gas efficiency and authentic engravings, and now includes a Black Heavyweight model. The heavier frame and barrel weight deliver impressive performance without compromising on actual shooting performance.
