Product Description
In 1935, a legendary revolver was born. The "S&W The .357 Magnum," commonly known as the "Registered Magnum," is a legendary gun that would later be known as the "S&W M27" with the introduction of a model number system. It was also the birth of the .357 Magnum cartridge, which is still used to this day. Upon its release, it was heavily promoted as "the world's most powerful revolver," and its overwhelming performance garnered high praise not only from general gun enthusiasts but also from law enforcement officers. However, as the name suggests, the initial model was sold as a custom order under a "registration system." It came with a registration certificate that also served as a quality assurance certificate, and was a fully customizable specification that allowed for detailed specifications, including the sights, barrel length in 1/4-inch increments, finish, and grip. As a result, while production capacity remained at around 120 guns per month, orders for thousands of guns poured in, leaving S&W in awe. Production was temporarily suspended during World War II, but was revived after the war as "The .357 Magnum." While demand remained high, high manufacturing costs became an issue, leading to the introduction of a simplified, cheaper version called "The Highway Patrolman (later the M28)." Despite this, the .357 Magnum's credibility and popularity remained strong, and with the introduction of the model number system in 1957, the countless registered designations were abolished and a new model was launched with a streamlined number of variations, the M27. Even after the variations were narrowed down and streamlined, the M27 retained its luxurious specifications that set it apart from the cheaper M28. Its distinctive features, such as the rear sight base and anti-reflective checkering from the frame to the top of the barrel rib, strongly reflect the traditions of the Registered Magnum. The 6-inch barrel was added in 1975 and is considered a replacement for the 6.5-inch barrel discontinued in 1967. This specification marked a transition from the long barrel orientation focused on muzzle velocity in the black powder era to a more target-specific design. The tapered 6-inch barrel is equipped with the traditional M27 series partridge front sight, which prioritizes accuracy. Furthermore, it features a counterbored cylinder that extends all the way to the ammunition rim to ensure primer reliability and combat high-pressure bullets of the time, a wide hammer and trigger typical of target models, and an oversized grip, all designed for maximum precision and operability. This model is based on the 6-inch version from the late 1970s and is reproduced with a rare nickel finish. Before stainless steel became commonplace, nickel plating was used to improve rust resistance, and it has fascinated many users for its practicality and decorative appeal. This finish, which also served as an effective protection against sweat during extended use, is now extremely rare even on real guns. Based on the nickel version of the time, our advanced plating technology has beautifully reproduced the frame, cylinder, barrel, and various operating parts. The checkered edges are highlighted, while the overall shine creates an overwhelming presence. The cartridge used is, of course, the .357 Magnum. The internal structure conforms to our latest S&W N-frame model gun, Version 2, meticulously recreating not only the appearance but also the smooth trigger feel befitting a high-end model. Features include a precision-oriented 6-inch barrel, target-specific controls, and a gleaming nickel finish reborn with modern Reiwa-era technology. This revolver represents the pinnacle of the legendary .357 Magnum, making it a perfect addition to your collection.
