Tanaka Works S&W M27 The .357 Magnum Nickel Finish 4-inch Firing Model Gun
Product Description:
Smith & Wesson M27 “The .357 Magnum” 4-inch Nickel Finish Model Gun
The legendary revolver "S&W The .357 Magnum" (commonly known as the Registered Magnum, later the M27), born in 1935, introduced the new ".357 Magnum" cartridge to the world and attracted great attention as "the world's most powerful revolver." Initially, it was a custom-made product with a registration certificate, allowing for detailed customization of sights, barrel length (in 1/4-inch increments), finish, and grips. Thousands of orders flooded in for a production capacity of only about 120 units per month. After production was interrupted during World War II, it was revived, but the high price became a challenge, leading to the introduction of the lower-priced "The Highway Patrolman" (later the M28). Even so, the reliability and demand for The .357 remained strong, and with the introduction of the model number system in 1957, the registration system was abolished, and production shifted to a more efficient system with fewer variations. Even with fewer variations and increased efficiency, unlike the lower-priced M28, the luxurious specifications inherited from the Registered Magnum tradition, such as the rear sight base, anti-reflective checkering on the top of the frame and barrel rib, tapered barrel, counterbored cylinder that covers the ammunition rim, semi-wide hammer, and narrow trigger, are all faithfully reproduced.
This model is based on the 4-inch model, which was added in 1979 after the 3-1/2-inch and 5-inch models were discontinued, and reproduces the nickel-plated model from around 1970-1979. Nickel finishes were once common on various models to prevent corrosion from sweat and for their aesthetic appeal, but they are now rare due to the prevalence of stainless steel. This model reproduces the tapered barrel, checkering, counterbored cylinder, and other external features with high-quality nickel plating. The internal mechanism is based on the latest version (Version 2) of the S&W N-frame system, faithfully reproducing even the smooth trigger feel in this high-end specification. The brilliance revived with modern technology makes this a worthy centerpiece for any collection. (Includes 6 .357 Magnum firing cartridges using 7mm cap primers)
