The WA Premium Edition faithfully reproduces the Colt National Match model manufactured between 1957 and 1970. [ National Match Specs ] Although the National Match is a variant of the 1911, it utilizes a specialized slide distinct from the standard Government Model. It features a "flat-top rib" on the slide's upper surface—engraved with fine, anti-glare serrations—creating a distinctive square profile. The cocking serrations also differ from the classic 1911 style; they are wide and angled, enhancing operability while lending the pistol a sporty aesthetic.
The Partridge-style front sight features an undercut specifically designed for competitive shooting, minimizing the impact of ambient light. It is equipped with an Eliason-style rear sight that allows for precise windage and elevation adjustments, with a wide sight leaf that provides an excellent sight picture. The lower edge of the ejection port is deeply cut, and a case roll-over notch has been added. The polished metal chamber cover bears the "COLT .45 AUTO N.M." stamp, signifying its match-grade status. The traditional straight-profile barrel is machined from aluminum to reduce weight—minimizing the impact on slide cycling—and is paired with a thick-walled barrel bushing.
The trigger guard opening on the frame has been widened, representing another design feature that distinguishes it from the Government Model. The "National Match" is characterized by its wide trigger—featuring bold weight-reduction cuts, broad front serrations, and an integrated adjustment screw. The front strap is machined with vertical grooves to provide a secure, non-slip grip.
[ Premium Specification with Wood Grips ] The grip panels feature Rosewood—a dense, highly durable material also known in Japan as *shitan* (red sandalwood). Crafted with a traditional full-checkering pattern, these grips offer a secure hold while providing the soft, warm tactile feel unique to natural wood. The center of each panel, adorned with the distinctive grain patterns of Rosewood, proudly displays the "Rampant Colt" medallion.
[ Superior Blued Finish ] Eschewing the superfluous ornamentation found on modern tactical customs, the slide and frame boast a simple yet perfectly balanced design; they are crafted from "Carbon Black Heavyweight" (HW) material, renowned for its substantial weight and high-quality texture. The HW slide and frame undergo a bead-blasting process to create a matte finish, followed by polishing on the slide's flanks. This creates a striking contrast between the matte-finished curved surfaces and the glossy flat sides, resulting in a realistic, three-dimensional appearance.
While rooted in the classic Colt 1911 lineage, the National Match was developed specifically for competitive shooting, resulting in a style that—despite its resemblance to the military-issue Government Model—possesses a distinct character all its own. With a depth of finish impossible to replicate via standard ABS plastic painting techniques, and accented by elegant Rosewood grip panels, this Premium Edition is the perfect addition to any collection. Slide and Frame Maintenance: The surface finish of the Carbon Black Heavyweight material is designed to highlight the natural texture of the material itself; it does not feature a paint or other coating. Consequently, unlike painted finishes, the alloy powder mixed into the material remains exposed, meaning oxidation or discoloration may occur over time or with frequent use. We recommend regular maintenance after use—such as wiping away dirt or oils (e.g., from your hands) from the surface using a commercially available silicone spray.
